The Latvian youth exchange, happened from 9th-15th of April, in Rezekne (Latvia). In this exchange, participants from Greece, Romania, Spain and Latvia improved their knowledge, skills and attitudes through different activities with the final goal of enhancing the voting turnout on the European Elections.
This youth exchange was a space for sharing ideas and getting inspired using different tools, as well as for reflecting on the European Union as seen through the eyes of young people as it is and their perspectives for the future.
Visiting Rezekne Municipality, participants met representatives from Europe direct office and Youth affairs specialists in Rezekne Municipality.
A variety of non-formal education methods were used during the exchange: get to know each other activities, group work, team building activities, brainstorming and there were also short activities (energizers), which provided additional energy to the participants.
During the exchange there were presentations about the participants' countries, and topics such as Europe’s challenges nowadays, Political system, elections for the European Parliament, young people's lives within the EU.
Using these methods, the youth exchange had an interactive and social character where participants learned how to work as a team, share their opinions and ideas in a democratic way and learned from each other.
Therefore, through a series of interactive sessions, participants obtained a theoretical and practical background on this topic getting closer to the goal of raising awareness about European issues, European elections and Europe’s future.
Participants also visited the youth center in Malta village and met with local young people, a great opportunity to spend time doing different creative activities after school, together with their friends in a youth center.
